So...... the school year is finally over!! The last month and a half at work have been really hard. It all started with the little girl in our preschool class who has downsyndrome escaped! While we weren't looking she walked right out of class out the front of the school and was heading to a very busy street. Luckily one of the other parents from the class saw her and brought her back.
A few weeks later I had to call the ambulance for a little boy in the same class!! He fell off the big toy and when I got to him to help him up he passed out and started seizing!! YIKES!!! He only seized for a few seconds and then came to. He kept trying to sit up and we had to make him lay back down. One note all this happened while the head teacher I work with was in the bathroom so I was running the show! YIKES!! Luckily everything nothing is wrong with him. The ambulance still took him to the hospital. Acutally his Mom said that he got a good deep sleep and does not remember anything that happened even the ambulance ride or being at the hospital! I think that is to his advantage.
Almost two weeks after having to call the ambulance another kid wandered off. This time he was from our Headstart class. We were outside during the schools lunch recess, and I was standing right there with the kids. I am not sure how he walked past me, but he did and he went into the class grabbed his papers out of his cubby and walked out the front doors of the school and was heading home. We had put out an all call to have the whole school was looking for him. Again someone brought him back to the school. But his mom was not as forgiving as the first mom. After this her whole attitude changed towards us. She came and volunteered in the classroom the last three days of class just to make sure we were doing our jobs the way she thought. She actually got the head teacher I work with written-up and then she called the last day of school and left a whole long list from the three days that she was in the class about everything I did wrong, which was everything short of breathing!!!! So I was talked to by my supervisor yesterday, which was our final inservice, and the very last day of school year. This talking too I recieved was the last thing that happened as they sent me off and said have a Good Summer!!! yea ok. This list was basically a personal attack as me as a person and as teacher. SO TO SAY THE LEAST I AM SO EXSTATIC TO HAVE THIS SCHOOL YEAR OVER WITH!!!! On a happier note, now that the year is over I can now concentrate on getting the baby's room ready YEA!!
